Cookie & Storage Policy

The honest version: Deskletics sets no tracking or advertising cookies and uses no third-party analytics. We use storage that’s strictly necessary to run the app, plus — only if you opt in — minimal, anonymous usage statistics collected on our own server. This page lists exactly what that means.

Do we use cookies?

We don’t use traditional tracking cookies at all. Instead the app uses your browser’s local storage for the few things it genuinely needs to work — keeping you signed in and remembering your settings. We run no advertising and no third-party trackers, so there is nothing following you around the web. The only optional category in use is our own first-party analytics, described below — and it stays off until you opt in.

Consent categories

Our cookie banner lets you accept or reject optional categories. For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they stay switched off until you opt in. For visitors clearly outside those regions (judged solely by the time zone your browser reports — we perform no location lookup), the optional categories are on by default and the banner is reachable via the “Cookie settings” footer link to switch them off; an explicit choice always wins. The only thing we record about the banner itself is a bare daily count of how often it was shown, accepted or declined — with no identifier, page or IP address attached — so we know what share of visitors opt in.

  • Strictly necessary — always on. Required to sign you in, keep the app secure, and remember your preferences. No consent is required for this under GDPR/ePrivacy, and it can’t be switched off without breaking the app.
  • Analytics — off by default. A handful of anonymous, first-party usage events (for example “onboarding completed”) sent to our own server. No IP addresses are stored, no third party receives anything, and events are never linked to your account. If you opt in, a random id is stored in your browser so we can count unique visitors; withdrawing consent deletes it.
  • Marketing — off by default. Controls Google’s conversion tag (Consent Mode v2). Before you opt in, the tag runs in a restricted state: no advertising cookies, no personalization — only limited cookieless pings that Google uses for aggregate statistics. If you opt in, Google sets its conversion cookies (e.g. _gcl_au) so Google Ads can tell which ad clicks led to a signup. Withdrawing consent returns the tag to the restricted state and deletes those cookies. Details in our Privacy Policy, section 3.11.

Third-party services

If you choose to sign in with Google or connect Google Calendar, Google may set its own cookies as part of that sign-in flow. That is governed by Google’s own policies. Web-push notifications, if you enable them, are delivered through your browser vendor’s push service. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture of who processes data and why.
